Say No to Bullying!

Unfortunately, bullying is a major problem in many schools and communities. Bullying prevention skills can protect kids from most bullying, increase their confidence, and help them to develop positive peer relationships. Here are some practices you can work on with the young people in your life now.

Here's some more great information on preventing bullying.

It is so important for students to know that they can't bully others. Sometimes, kids don't even realize that what they are doing is bullying. Please take the opportunity, this week especially, to talk to your children and make sure they know about bullying.

Drug free facts

There are many facts on drug use. The main fact students need to remember is to Just Say No! If you would like more information on drugs, signs of drug use, ways to talk to your child, and more, here are some links you can check out!

One School, One Goal... Bully and Drug Free!

Red Ribbon Week is October 8-10 at Manila Elementary, and we are adding in a new goal to go along with our Drug Free Week... Bully Free! Please take the opportunity this week to talk with your children and let them know that it is not okay to do drugs, and it is not okay to bully anyone. I will be posting ideas through the week, so check back often.

This week at Manila, we will be having different themed days.

Monday- Mustangs have School Spirit and don't do drugs and don't bully!  (Wear school colors and your Manila Spirit wear!)

Tuesday- Be a Team Player and don't do drugs or bully! (Wear your favorite sports jersey or outfit. No hats!)

Wednesday- Drugs and Bullying are HAIRY... just say no! (Crazy hair day!)

You just might see some of the PTA wandering around the school on these days looking for kids who are participating! And you never know... we might have something special for you!

Dads and Donuts

Dads and Donuts is a fun morning provided by Manila PTA for students to get to spend a morning with their dads, uncles, grandpas, etc. It is coming up on Friday, October 5th. Students in Track A can come from 7:15-7:55. Students in Track B can come from 8:30-9:10. Bring your dad, uncle, grandpa, etc. and go to the lunchroom where there will be free donuts for everyone! You can purchase milk from the lunchroom for $.30. This is also a great time to visit the Book Fair together! If you are in a time crunch and are worried about getting to work on time, please bring cash to buy your Book Fair items. There will be people in the library walking around taking cash so you don't have to wait in the line. Yay! There will also be prizes from the Book Fair given out every 5 minutes in the lunch room! Hope to see you there!

SEPs

Remember there are SEP's this week. You should have registered for a time slot online, so check what time you have, and go chat with your child's teacher. If you still haven't registered, click the online scheduler below and see what time slots are left.

It's also a great time to check out the Book Fair!  And a big THANK YOU to all who are helping provide the teachers dinner on Tuesday and Thursday nights. It is greatly appreciated!

Book Fair Week

Book Fair Week is October 1-5 at Manila Elementary! Come and take a look at all the great books and other things available! Take advantage of SEP nights and go in and look before or after talking with your child's teacher. Or, join us on Friday for Dads and Donuts and after your donuts, go check out the Book Fair Together! It's a great time to get some new books and benefit our school library as well!

Also, look for the Teacher Donation board on the left side as you enter the Book Fair. Many people like to donate books to their child's classroom, so we ask the teachers to put some suggestions of books they would like to have in their classroom. All you need to do is pick one of the papers in your child's teacher's spot, take it to the cash register and pay for it, and it will be donated to your child's classroom in your child's name.
